March 19 will mark the 46th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest fashion designers. Anne Klein passed away at the age of 51 from breast cancer. She was born Hannah Goldofski. Her design career began at the age of 15. In 1948 she married Ben Klein, a clothing manufacturer. Together they would form the company that made her famous, Junior Sophisticates a clothing line for young ladies. In 1965, with her second husband she started the business that would the business that would become a licensing house for her brand. Following her death, several Burlington sheet patterns were produced. A few of them follow a March-like theme, including “Lion” which was not only her logo, but also her zodiac sign.
