Joan Walsh Anglund is an American poet and author of children’s books. She was born January 3, 1926. Her father and mother were a commercial painter and artist, respectively. Ms. Walsh attended art school prior to her marriage to Robert Anglund in 1947. Her first book, “A Friend Is Someone Who Likes You” was published in 1958. Her writings focus on love, friendship, and happiness. Her books have been translated into several languages and published in over fourteen countries. More than forty million copies have been sold worldwide. Her illustrations of round-faced children became quite popular and are used on dolls, calendars, ornaments and many other consumer items including sheets.
